Alaska Communications Systems
Business
We're ahead of the curve.

Alaska Communications Systems has a proven track record of developing cutting-edge technology that improves business communications. Whatever your networking requirements, ACS can design and implement customized solutions to maximize productivity, while simplifying your telecommunications operations. Today, tomorrow and well into the future, ACS will be there for you.

1996 ACS was one of the first in the nation to deploy Metro Ethernet technology. We continue to invest and now have a 10G fully meshed core. One of our most successful products for over a decade, Metro Ethernet has become the industry standard for the L49. More than 10 years later, our competitors still don't have a comparable network.
2002 ACS was the first provider to deploy a statewide MPLS solution. Our competitors continue to sell legacy technologies - Frame Relay, Private Line or Internet based VPN service.
2004 ACS was the first company in the United States to complete the deployment of a 3G high-speed wireless network clear across Alaska, bringing service from the North Slope to Kenai. ACS continues to expand its footprint and capabilities.
2008 ACS invested $175 million to connect Alaska to the Lower 48 via two fiber-optic cables: the most advanced fiber-optic cable to be built in Alaska, AKORN, and the acquisition of the Northstar cable. The Northstar cable complements AKORN with Southeast Alaska connectivity and a redundant path to the Lower 48, all to be managed via two geographically diverse Network Operation Control Centers.
